How to choose a good printer
Firstly decide, what type of printer do you want?
- How much you want to expense for buying printer?
- Do you need the capability of printing, scanning, copying etc together or it is enough only the capability of printing?
- Are your printer compatible with your computer operating system?
- Is it for business purpose, office purpose or home purpose?
- How much printing speed or printing quality, you want?
- What type of connectivity you want? Do you want wireless or wired connection?
Some knowledge about printer:
- Printer must be compatible with your computer operating system. Communication between computer and printer is established by driver. Driver is a group of files or program that enable one or more hardware devices to communicate with computer's operating system.
- Laser printer is better than Inkjet printer. Sometimes, low price printer uses very expensive ink cartridge. Consider the replacement cost of ink cartridge before buying printer.
- How much pages a printer can print per month is defined by it's duty cycle.
- Printing speed is measured in ppm(pages per minute) unit. More ppm is good.
- Printing quality is measured in dpi(dots per inch) unit. More dpi is good.
Specification for a minimum standard printer:
Function : as you want (multifunctional or unifunctional)
Simplex or Duplex : as you want ( one sided or two sided print)
Print speed : 20ppm for B&W and 10ppm for color pages
Printer quality : 600x600 dpi for B&W and 1200x1200 dpi for color pages
Scanner resolution : 1200x600 dpi
copy speed : 25ppm
Duty cycle : 20000-25000 page for office purpose used and 5000 page for home purpose used
First page print : as less as possible
At last, if you have to print more pages, you should choice a high price printer. Because, low price printer needs more ink cost.
