About Linux

Is Linux so hard to use? Is it so hard to learn?
I think not so.
Basically Windows and Linux are same. But they are different obviously. The matters are given below which differentiates Linux from Windows:
  • Windows is commercial and Linux is open Source
  • Windows is mainly GUI oriented. Otherwise, Linux orientation is based on GUI and text-mode configuration. i.e. Linux provides programming interface as well as user interface too.
  • Windows requires slightly more powerful hardware than does an equivalent Linux server.
  • Both Linux and Windows provide multiple choices for many server software categories, but those choices are different.
  • Linux is more secure OS than windows
  • Windows uses micro-kernel and Linux uses monolithic kernel
  • Windows has less efficiency than Linux
  • Windows is simple and straightforward to use than Linux

Feature of Linux:
  • Open source
  • Most Reliable computer ecosystems
  • Less vulnerable on ransomware, malware, or viruses i.e. more secure system
  • Easy to install
  • Based on Unix standards
  • Provides programming interface as well as user interface
  • Multi-user system
  • Abstract layer is used to govern different file systems
  • Supports networked, device-oriented and virtual file systems
  • Linux command line or terminal

Linux Command Line

  • Linux command line is also referred to as the shell, terminal, console, prompt etc.
  • Terminal is consist of input and output, a keyboard and a screen.
  • In simple word, terminal is a software which takes the command from your keyboard and passes it to the OS.
